NRI has made great strides in providing accurate and professional native plant inventories to contractors, developers, and landowners. As part of an environmentally-friendly approach to development, numerous cities within the Phoenix metropolitan area not only encourage, but oftentimes require an inventory of native plants on new projects NRI’s field inventory technicians perform a site analysis of an area proposed for development. This analysis includes species identification and determination of caliper, height and canopy width of all protected plants on site. Each plant is assessed for its ability to be successfully salvaged. The location of each plant is mapped using GPS technology.
The Native plant salvage process consists of preparing a plant for removal by boxing and containerizing the roots. Placing native trees in boxes allows them to be relocated to either a new location or a nursery where they can be maintained until development is complete.
As native plant salvage experts, NRI understands the maintenance requirements of native trees and cacti. Our nursery crews are skilled in irrigation systems and monitoring plant health. At any given time, our team is busy maintaining over 75 nurseries.
As the project’s infrastructure is nearing completion, we begin recycling natural resources back into the disturbed areas. Cacti and trees are replanted, boulders are placed, seed is spread, gravel is distributed, and the area is naturalized to replicate the adjoining undisturbed native palette.
As part of the tree salvage process, NRI is the industry leader in moving large trees to the onsite nursery or final planting location. Using an assortment of large loaders, backhoes and cranes, we are able to move trees that can weigh up to 50,000 pounds. As part of our tree sales division, NRI can transport large boxed trees throughout the state, using our semi trucks and many years of experience procuring wide load and oversize permits.
